Our club

The following is an overview of where we came from, what we are about, where and when we meet socially and when we fish competitively, as well as outlining the advantages our club has to offer members.

Our Club was formed in August 2007 and our objective is “To be a community based club that is non religious or political for the pursuit of common interests of members involved in angling, boating and related recreational sea sports”.  The club already has a firm financial  base together with  over 80 members and  is  actively looking  to  grow  and  become  the best  and  most popular Sea Sports Club in Perth.

M.D.S.S.C. currently has the following sections :

– Fishing including monthly competitions

– General Boating

– Social

We are actively looking for members for new sections such as rod fishing off the shore or rocks.  We have top class sponsors who provide excellent prizes for our fishing competitions as well as all round support. We welcome prospective members to fish one of our competitions as a guest and general tips can be provided to newcomers to the area. The web master can give you a GPS spot for big dhufish but if you follow it you will end up in a member’s freezer.

We are an integral part of the Quinns Rocks Sports Club, represented on the Board and share premises and support the other four Affiliated Clubs’ social events.

Q:  How many members are there?

There are approx 80 members.

Q: Where do members meet?

Friday night at the Quinns Rocks Sports Club (entrance between the 2 limestone pillars in Tapping Road Quinns Rocks). Members start getting there approx 5:30pm till about 8:00pm.  Facilities include:
–   Fully serviced bar with professional staff – meals available and drinks are reasonably priced.
–   There is a zero tolerance Yahoo/Misbehaviour policy.
–   A raffle drawn at 7:30pm is held each Friday night with 10 generous meat and vegie pack prizes
–   Free QRSC Club Members’ draw jackpots by $100 each week – you need to be there to win.
This is an ideal safe venue to socialise and meet new and existing members while telling tall stories and finding out where the big ones are being caught.

Q: When are fishing competitions held?

Competitions are held on the second Sunday of every month and if there is a strong wind warning, the following Sunday.  Full details of dates and available species will be on this web site. ( See “Up coming Events” Tab ) Terrific prizes are sponsored by Anaconda, BlueWater Tackle & All Boats Business with a jackpot cash members’ draw including those who do not fish.  Weigh-ins are held under the specially built patio/barbecue area on the south side of the club premises.  We also participate in the AAA State Boating Championships held in Feb/March each year and arrange a number of fishing safaris to places like the Abrolhos or Montebello Islands.

Q:  Are there any social events planned?

The club has a very active social committee and this year they have many special events planned which will be promoted in the Newsletter and on this web site. ( See “Up coming Events” Tab )
